Another beautiful Longest Night Run is complete. Thanks to everyone for participating and exploring the liminal space between sunset and sunrise.
Over 200 participants signed up to run, walk, or bike this year, nearly double previous year’s participation!
For the first time we had a satellite location in Winnipeg, where MATR hosted 70 runners for a group run at Chaeban Ice Cream.
The warm weather provided a perfect opportunity for several runners to dig deep and run the full 16 hours, or close to the full time. Congrats to Doro, Justin, and Kayla for running from sunset to sunrise, and to Natalie, Jonathan, Joel, and Eric for putting in enormous efforts of their own.
At The Public we explored the theme of darkness and light with a collaborative artwork as envisioned by local artist Alexandra Ross.
About $2,500 was donated to Bethesda Foundation, and combined with the portion of registrations we will probably be about to give about $5,000 total to the work of the foundation.
Thanks to everyone who contributed their energy, smiles, and gifts to bring this event to life for a 6th consecutive year. Also thanks to our small and mighty group of volunteers who laid the groundwork for all of this.
The night was a beautiful display of our community’s generosity, and we are grateful.
